AAR: What a Tanker: 20mm British versus Germans.

As you all can see, Kalissa and I are still in a slump when it comes to time playing actual games this year. My not-stop work seems to make it difficult to find time. However, we did get some time to play a What a Tanker game earlier in the month of July. I was hoping for more, be we had a good time. The British my wife was running took a beating, but not without some revenge. It was just nice to play a game. The rest of July is just going to have to be a was, though. We did do other wargaming-like activities. That will be a later post. Enjoy the photos!

AAR: What A Tanker: When Stuarts Don't Succeed, Try Something Bigger!

This was the last game I got to play at Siege of Augusta 2021. Kalissa and I were telling some fellow gamers about What A Tanker from Too Fat Lardies on how easy of a game it is to play. I mentioned that you can still play this fair well even  drunk! I know, because I have and was nearly a tank ace during that game. So we convinced Dale and Thomas to play this game. Thomas and I chose to play as the Germans. Kalissa and Dale played the Americans. Now, in a normal game, I would tend to chose a little more balanced tanks to duel with for a first time game. Call it a "Beer-Induced" decision! We had a King Tiger versus Stuart III's. Thomas had the King Tiger. I went with a more tame option of a Panzer IV. The game turned in a simple goal for Dale and Kalissa: Kill the King Tiger! I was mostly a side thought. I lost my Panzer IV and came back with a Panther. The Americans went through countless Stuarts, Shermans, and then, to Hellcats to finally kill the King Tiger. The best part is that both, Dale and Thomas bought the rules for having so much fun! Great stuff! Here are the photos below!

AAR: What A Tanker: A Demo Game

This is another round of playing "What A Tanker" being played as a demonstration game. I originally brought this game to one of our local hobby shops, Hit Point Hobbies. I thought there were more people going to play, but I just introduced the game to one player. That is not a bad thing, but this game is best played with more players. However, we both had two tanks instead. The Soviet T-34/85's hit most of the time, but never seemed to do any damage. It ended up being chase game. I tried to out run the Germans, but I still lost both tanks. Still, I was able to showcase the rules with 15 mm terrain that is more like my 28mm. We had fun!

AAR: What A Tanker: Another Soviet/German Fight!

For another fast and easy game, we have been playing What A Tanker for a simple "Join In" game. It is a quick and easy to teach game system, so it is easy to get players in. This was not a very long game, since ended up going to work. However, I truly believe that my wife is confusing this game with NASCAR racing. Everytime she gets a tank labelled with the "Fast" specialty, she races into combat with a record number of movement dice. A game not to far back, had me shooting me pointblank after crossing a ten foot table in two turns! This game was no exception. I like to think that is was seeing the future, because we happened to buy the movie "T-34" at Walmart the next day. She enjoyed that movie. Anyway, below are the few photos I happened to take. Enjoy!
