AAR: Wings of Glory: A Couple of Games for the Battle of Britain.

These are some recent Wings of Glory photos that Kalissa and I played not too long ago. Actually, it was about ten days from this posting. I have been a little slow to keeping up with posting. A lot of this has to due with Blogger itself. I am not sure what they changed for this blog site, but I can not directly post pictures to this blog with my original pictures. Now, I have to post on Facebook, then, copy the photos to my desk top, and then, upload from there. This was not a problem two months ago. Otherwise, I might have had three more posts a week ago.
Anyway. the Lord of the Rings kick is still on, but I made it a point that we needed to still play our other games. I am not a fan of everything collecting dust. We had about 25 rules sets to play and more rules we have yet to use based on the lack of figures. Historicon will sort some of this out. Plus, I do not want to get completely burned out in current games in a binge-fest in one rules set. The beauty of Wings of Glory is that it is an easy, quick game system. Kalissa and I had two games in less than two hours. This was good, since I had to work an evening shift. I played my normal pesty Germans with pretty good efficiency! The German fighters took out the British like swatting flies for the most part. The first game was for the Germans all over. The second game, Kalissa's British won by shooting down my bomber. Below are the rest of the photos.

Commission Mission Success: 6mm Board for Planes.

It seems like November is a loss when it comes to gaming. There has not be much going on in the grand scheme of things other than finishing up back orders of work, retail holiday work, and my wife being sick for most of the month. However, I cannot say all is gloom and doom for November. I have decided to work on some terrain building in between work. Soon, there will be some new terrain popping up for main 28mm related terrain. Something I tend to excel best in.
Now this post is a showcasing of some 6mm terrain. Or I hope that is what it is, because my few free buildings said they were for 6mm. If not, than a certain miniature company lied on the package. I was commissioned to do this project. Tomorrow, if I am not dead of sleep deprivation over Black Friday sales, I hope to play a Wings of Glory scenario on this board. So, in a sense, this is also a preview of a game I hope to play. Either way, I am happy with how it came out, since I do not make too many small scale boards. Enjoy!

AAR: Wings of Glory WWII: British Bombing Raid.

Danny and I have been trying to get back to last years' pattern of playing during the week on Thursdays. So far, we have had some time to do so, but other things might interrupt this such as a job. Not really a big shocker in the real world. Anyway, our last game was a Wings of Glory WWII game. I made a similar scenario much like the German one where the German bombers must survive crossing the board in waves. The only real difference was that it was the British sides turn to do so. At the last Siege of Augusta, Kalissa and I were able to pick up some hard to find bombers. We ended up with two Lancaster bombers and a B-17. Still having a hard time finding more Heinkel 111's.
Either way, Danny was playing the Germans and was out in force. Despite having a health of 42 for each bomber, they kept getting shot down the common hit number per shot seemed to be 8 damage. By the games, end I lost four bombers and one Hawker Hurricane that barely shot at anyone. The Germans lost two ME 110's and one FW 190. Fairly fun game, even if I lost. Anyway, below are the rest of the photos.

Wings of Glory: WW2: Dogfight at the Local Hobbytown.

Every so often, Kalissa and I have made it a point to try to showcase our wargaming hobby in public to share it and to get out of the house. There are a lack of places to play wargames in our area, and the ones that do cater to 40K or X-Wing. This is understandable, since they a way more popular. But I believe in options, thus a showcase day. However, as luck would have it, not a single wargamers came out on a Saturday at Hobbytown U.S.A. They had an event for Magic: The Gathering, but that, too was a poor showing. Needless to say, we wanted to play, so Wings of Glory it was. We had brought our mini-board for Muskets & Tomahawks as well, but did not use it.
Kalissa's main goal was to shoot down bombers. Mine just had to survive. The drive was there, but the Germans lost at the last turn right before getting off the table. I took out all but one British Fighter. It was a great game, so that was why I am sharing this. Enjoy!

AAR: Wings of Glory WW1: Blue Bomber Run.

These are shots from a recent game of Wings of Glory that we played last month, so it did not posted for that month. However, it was a fun game at our friend, Danny's house. Danny and I got to play as the German determined to bomber a factory target. And our partners in crime were our British opponents. Actually, they might have just be Allies, instead of British, since my wife, Kalissa and his wife, Susan got to choose whatever fighters they wanted to play against us.
Now, I cannot say I am a expert of WWI fighters or bombers. Actually, since we started playing this game, I was not aware there were so many different planes. However, the main point of this game other than everyone wanting a rematch was to run to two largest bombers in the game. They are both the same, but with different color schemes. And the models are just huge on the table. If this was X-Wing, it would be like bringing a Death Star to a knife fight in size. Of course, this does not mean they cannot be defeated. One of these bombers died on the last turn as my wife's finally say before her last plane went down. Anyway, here were the game shots! Enjoy!
