AAR: Battlegroup: British Versus Germans

Kalissa and I went to our local hobby shop, Hit Point Hobbies to play a game of Battlegroup. Now, we have had these rules for quite awhile, but rarely play them. I think it has more to do with not having enough forces at the time. I recently started to bolster forces in armor for both sides of our 20mm figures. I have seemed to join the darkside of the miniature world by buying plastic figures. I am still not used to the weight of these tanks from Plastic Soldier Company, but they still look nice in the end. A part of me wished I put metal washers in the hulls before I glued them together. Oh well! And they still need some work, since I have not got decals from them yet.

Anyway, we decided to play Battlegroup, since Kalissa has not really played these rules. I figured that she would enjoy the challenge, even though I happened to have the same Battle Rating for both sides. That was not exactly planned. Both sides were set at 33 BR. We both had one infantry platoon and roughly two tank platoons. The goal was to kill and capture two corners of the board and both buildings. If it was not for the Battle Rating breaking, it would have ended in a draw. In this game, my wife made me work for my victory. I can honestly say that I felt a little tired after the whole affair. By the end of the game, I had ran out of tank rounds. However, my Germans managed to kill two infantry squads, an FO, the infantry leader, two Sherman tanks, and two Sherman Fireflies. My lossed were one infantry squad, one Panzer IV, and one Panther. Not too bad. There were more times where I had low orders to deal with, where as, Kalissa had nearly all orders to move everyone. So this was more of a lucky win. We will play again! In the meantime, enjoy!
